About Architectural EngineeringWhat do Architectural Engineers do?Architectural Engineering focuses on the integration the systems of a building's design, such as heating, ventilation and cooling, structural components. In many ways, Achitectual Engineers have similar skill to Civil and Structural Engineers, but with skills specifically geared towards the building industry. As the construction industry gains an increased focus on sustainable design and operation of structures, Architectural Engineers will be in demand to ensure a building operates efficiently in areas such as energy usage. Architectural engineers' roles can overlap with that of the architect and other project engineers. Like architects, they seek to achieve optimal designs within the overall constraints, except using primarily the tools of engineering. Architectural Engineers often work as consultants, to meet design goals for a particluar part of the building's design. Where do Architectural Engineers work?Graduates with a degree in Architectural Engineering will be able to work anywhere around the world (our degrees are recognised internationally) for firms involved with structural design of buildings, bridges and their foundations. Possible positions for Architectural Engineers include:
