Why Study Architectural EngineeringArchitectural Engineers are in increasing demand as the need for sustainable buildings becomes increasingly high. By being able to apply engineering skills in conjunction with design skills gives architectural engineers a unique advantage, and also the skills necessary to engage in all aspects of a building project. Through their inter-disciplinary background, Architectural Engineers understand and address architects' goals as they design building systems. Architectural Engineers attempt to integrate buildings' HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, lighting, transportation, and structural systems with the architectural design. As such, the broad range of skills of an Architectural Engineer enable them to take on rolls througout almost any aspect of a building's construction. When combined with the world wide demand for Architectural Engineers, a degree in Architectural Engineering will present many exciting career opportunities. What will you learn? The program is comprised of about half structural engineering, with architecture and mechanical/building services engineering comprising the remaining half. The structural engineering content includes the use of traditional as well as advanced materials for construction. The architectural content includes the study of Human Environments, Architectural History, and Design for Sustainable Buildings. The building services content includes topics on the latest technologies for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning of buildings. |
