Why Study Civil & Structural EngineeringCivil and Structural Engineering involves the design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of our physical infrastructure which includes: buildings, hospitals and sports stadiums; roads and bridges; dams, waterways and pipelines; as well as airports and harbours. Our Civil and Structural Engineering academics are internationally recognised as world leaders in their fields of research. This allows the academics to focus on teaching the fundamental principles that are applicable in any country, for life-long learning and for innovation. Hence, the emphasis is to develop the student's problem solving abilities. Consequently, our graduates are much sought after by industry in Australia and worldwide. What will you learnThe Civil & Structural Engineering degree has an emphasis on design, engineering problem solving, planning and project management. This prepares graduates for entry into any of the main fields of civil engineering. These include structural, water, environmental, geotechnical engineering and construction management. Throughout this academic program emphasis is placed on the techniques of design and analysis using modern, computer-based methods. From the second year of the program, a progressively more detailed study of civil & structural engineering courses occurs. |
