Research Interests

My research is centred primarily on the identification, classification and forecasting of drought events from Australian rainfall patterns. To aid in this end I will utilise aspects of time series theory and state-space models, with an aim of developing a non-linear, non-gaussian state-space model for Australian rainfall/droughts. Other areas of interest include the Standardised Precipitation Index and its utility for Australian conditions and elements of principal component analysis and other methods of examining the spatial relationship of drought in Australia as well as the underlying climatic influences on rainfall patterns in Australia.

Research Project

Quantification of hydrological persistence and drought forecasting in Australia.
