Re-Enrolment Dates

  • Summer Semester Courses: Students wishing to enrol in Summer Semester courses should complete a Summer Application form which should be lodged at the Faculty Office
  • General Information About Online Enrolment: Available from December at the University’s Enrolment site.
  • Timetable Information: Class numbers will be available via the Course Planner from mid-December using the Class Planner
  • Course Adviser Appointments/Sessions: To arrange an appointment, please come to the Faculty Office at S134 Engineering South Building, North Terrace or email the Faculty Office.

Documents You Will Need for Re-Enrolment

  1. Enrolment Guides comprising: (i) a list of courses at each year level
  2. Blank timetable and enrolment worksheets (pdf 274kB) (for plotting your classes and recording class numbers in preparation for enrolling online)
  3. Timetable Information and Class Numbers are available using the Class Planner from mid-December. If you have any queries about courses that do not show timetable information, please contact the relevant School at the beginning of the semester.

For syllabus details of individual courses and information on prerequisites and assumed knowledge for all courses, please consult the Calendar of Undergraduate Programs.

Note, when you re-enrol you will be required to enrol in a given course by enrolling in each of the components relevant to the course (eg. lectures, tutorials, practicals). In some cases, you will have a choice of dates and times for a given component (eg. tutorials) and each option will have a unique class number. You will be required to choose the class that best suits your availability.

For specific queries about Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematical & Computer Sciences programs, contact the Faculty Office.

Who Needs to Obtain Course Advice?

If you will be undertaking a standard year of study that is at least 24 units wholly within one year level and not repeating any courses you do not need to see a Course Adviser, unless you specifically wish to do so. Students with a choice of elective courses are encouraged to consult a course adviser if they are unsure of any part of their re-enrolment.

Combined/double degree students who are undertaking elective studies in another area or Faculty should consult that area for course advice and enrolment information. Check the Enrolment site for links to other Faculty information.

If you do not expect to be taking a standard year of study (that is you may be repeating some courses or may be taking an overload), you should consult a Course Adviser in person or by email.

Course Advice by Appointment: Students are encouraged to obtain course advice for the following year from mid-December by appointment with a Course Adviser. Please contact the Faculty Office to arrange a suitable time.

Preparation for Enrolment

  1. Before you enrol you should determine your program of study using the Enrolment Guides. Ensure that you have the appropriate prerequisites or assumed knowledge for each course. For students enrolling in Level 4 of the Engineering program, information on acceptance into the Honours stream will be posted on the Faculty website in late December. Mathematical and Computer Science students will be notified by way of an invitation to undertake Honours.
  2. To assist in plotting your classes, blank timetable and enrolment worksheets (pdf 274kB) are available for your convenience. It is recommended that you plot your lectures, tutorials and practical classes etc on the timetable and then record class numbers on the enrolment worksheet provided (including possible alternative times where there is a choice).
  3. Ensure that you do not select any classes with time clashes as this will prevent enrolment. If you are repeating courses and there is an unavoidable clash you will need contact the Faculty Office to complete your enrolment.
  4. It is your responsibility to ensure that you enrol in the courses relevant for your degree. If you have any queries about the courses required to complete your degree, please consult a Program Adviser through the Faculty Office or lodge a request in writing for a degree check at the Faculty Office.

How to Enrol?

To enrol you should follow the instructions provided at the Enrolment site. When you enrol on Access Adelaide, you will be asked to select all the necessary classes for each course. In some cases the enrolment component may be, for example, the tutorial and you will be automatically enrolled in the lectures.  In other cases you may need to enrol in all components (eg lectures, tutorials, practicals etc) individually.

What If You Encounter an Error?

Do not attempt repeatedly to add the course. You can resolve some errors by amending other aspects of your enrolment, for example dropping a course or a class which is part of a clash. If this is not an option however, you will need to seek the assistance of staff in the Faculty Office, by completing the Online Enrolment Error Form.

Where Can I Enrol?

You will be able to enrol from any computer with internet access including computer suites on campus and from home.

Opening Times

Please see the complete list of open times. Please note that some programs will open in the afternoon.

While you will be able to enrol online up to the second week of the Semester, you are encouraged to enrol on the designated opening day as assistance and advice will be maximised at those times and in the case of the double/combined degree students this will facilitate your choice of tutorial and practical times in courses offered by other areas. Please note, any time clashes in lectures, tutorials or practicals will prevent enrolment in that course. Once you have completed your enrolment you can print out a study list for each semester. You will then be able to update your student card.

Amendments

You will be able to amend your enrolment online within timelines set by the University. After a specified date you will be able to drop courses Online but you will need to submit a Course Add form at the Faculty Office if you wish to add courses. Please refer to the list of Critical Dates for 2008.

You must amend your enrolment online as soon as you change any aspect of your enrolment. For example, if you remain enrolled in a given course, but have negotiated with your tutor or course coordinator to move to a different tutorial class, it is important that you record this change online. This will ensure that the number of places filled in the class remains accurate on the system.

Changing Programs

If you wish to transfer to another engineering program in 2008 and have applied through SATAC, if successful, you will be sent enrolment instructions for that program in late January 2008. If you are enrolled in a double degree and wish either to change stream (within the same engineering discipline) or drop the non-engineering stream, you may do so without going through SATAC. In this case you should consult a Program Adviser in the Faculty Office before enrolling.
