Google Prize for Honours Computer Science

  1. The prize will be called "The Google Prize for Honours Computer Science" for the lifetime of the Prize Scheme.
  2. The value of the prize will be $1000 or any such amount as agreed in writing between the University and Google.
  3. The prize will be open to all students studying Honours Computer Science at the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University. These students will be automatically eligible to compete for the prize and there will be no application process required to be eligible.
  4. The prize will be awarded annually to the student obtaining the highest mark in Honours Computer Science, provided that in the reasonable opinion of the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences the mark achieved by this student is of sufficient merit.
  5. No award shall be made if in the reasonable opinion of the Faculty, there is no student who has achieved a mark of sufficient merit. Google also reserves the right to refuse to pay the cash prize to the winner where this would result in Google being in breach of a Google policy or any applicable law or regulation.
  6. If in any one year there are two or more students that achieve the highest mark in Honours Computer Science, the cash prize will be divided equally amongst such students.
  7. These rules may be varied from time to time as agreed with Google Australia in writing, but the title and general purpose of the prize will not be changed.
