The Sir William Goodman Scholarship
Whereas the late Sir William G.T. Goodman bequeathed to the University the sum of $8,000 for the purpose of founding an undergraduate scholarship in electrical and electronic engineering, and that sum having increased by capitalisation of income, the following rules are hereby made:
- A scholarship in electrical and electronic engineering, to be known as "The Sir William Goodman Scholarship", shall be available for award to two students annually.
- Subject to clause 3 hereof, the scholarship shall be awarded to two candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering who, obtain in one year, the best overall results in the assessment of the Level III courses prescribed in the Academic Program Rules defining the program of study for these degrees.
- If, the candidates defined in clause 2 hereof are not of sufficient merit to warrant award of the scholarship, no award for that year shall be made; and if an award so lapses, an additional award may be made in a subsequent year in which there is a further candidate who is deemed worthy of an award.
- The scholarship shall be tenable for Level IV of the program of study for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering.
- The value of each scholarship shall be $2,500. An amount of $1,500 will be paid when the scholar commences Level IV of the program of study for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering, and an amount of $1,000 will be paid in the year after the scholar has qualified for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Engineering in the Honours grade in either Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering.
- These rules may be varied from time to time, but the title and general purpose of the scholarship shall not be changed.
