The Applied Probability Trust Prize

A sum of money has been given to the University by the Applied Probability Trust to establish a prize for the purposes of encouraging excellence in Applied Probability and Statistics and to encourage students to pursue higher studies in these fields. The following rules are hereby made:

1. The prize shall be known as "The Applied Probability Trust Prize".
2. The prize shall be of the value of not less than $100 on the recommendation of the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences.
3. The prize shall be awarded annually by the Faculty upon receipt of advice from the Head of the School of Mathematical Sciences, to the student who achieves the overall highest mark in Honours that includes a project in the area of Applied Probability or Statistics.
4. No award shall be made if, in the opinion of the Faculty, there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
5. If there are two or more candidates of equal merit, the prize shall be divided equally among them.
6. These rules may be varied from time to time by agreement of the Applied Probability Trust and the Faculty, but the title and general purpose of the prize will not be changed.
