Aerospace, Acoustics and Autonomous Systems

Group Leader: Associate Professor Anthony Zander

Mission Statement
The mission of this research group is to apply their skills, knowledge and experience to advance the fields of Aerospace,
Acoustics, and Autonomous Systems to the benefit of society.

Aims and Objectives

Potential opportunities include:

  • Establish a Space Research and Education Centre aligned with the Australian Space Research Program, and Defence satellite programs.
  • Partner with other Faculty research groups in a wind energy centre of expertise, with the group providing expertise on aerodynamics, noise, flow, control and structural health monitoring aspects, aligned with the Education Investment Fund (EIF), SA Premier’s Science and Research Fund (PSRF), state strategic plan, and vision for science, technology and innovation (STI10).
  • Partner with other ECMS research groups on MAGIC robots, aligned with DSTO/DARPA.
  • Partner with ASC (new submarines and Air Warfare Destroyer) in developing new technology for underwater acoustic signature management, aligned with projects such as the Capability and Technology Demonstrator (CTD) Program
  • Mining automation, aligned with the Australian mining industry.

Scope of research activities:

  • Aeroacoustics
  • Hypersonics
  • Plasma induced flow control
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
  • Acoustics
  • Vibration and control
  • Nanopositioning
  • Robotics
