The School of Mathematical Sciences already has a strong international reputation in probability theory, applied probability, stochastic modelling, network analysis, financial mathematics, heuristic optimisation, biostatistics and statistical genomics.

Recent appointments in multivariate high-dimensional data analysis and non-linear time series have enhanced its strength in statistical modelling. Key links, within the University, which underpin ORS are with the Centre for Defence Communications and Information Networking and the Centre for the Quantification and Management of Risk.
