Schools Program Welcome

The University of Adelaide's Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences invites primary and secondary teachers and their students to be part of the Schools Program. The Faculty offers tours on an informal basis, when approached by interested schools, however, we also have a formal program of activities, making them as interactive and hands-on as possible.

Experiences such as these will provide students with more information as they make subject and eventually career choices.

High Schools

Various activities suitable for different year levels.

A range of activities and talks are available to help educate students on the diverse and dynamic programs available within the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. As students discover more about the choices available, they will be better prepared to make decisions about their school subjects and what programs they might consider at University.

Join us during National ICT Careers Week (28 July - 1 August)

The Faculty will be offering inspiring half day programs focussed on information and communication technologies (ICT) for maths, science and IT students in Years 8-10 on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 July. Students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities delivered by the Schools of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

In addition, an ICT breakfast will be held on Friday 1 August for maths, science and IT teachers and careers counsellors. Learn more about ICT career pathways for maths, science and IT students from inspiring guest speakers and network with peers and academics over a delicious breakfast of pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, juices and freshly brewed tea and coffee. Contact Kirby Gagliardi to learn more.

Primary Schools

Activities suitable for students in year 4-7 inclusive.

The Faculty is thrilled to offer primary schools the opportunity to have the Sydney Olympic torch at their next Sports Day!

The combustion technology that kept the Olympic torch burning in Sydney and Athens was developed by University of Adelaide engineers and would be a fitting addition to any school sporting event.

In addition, a selection of activities suitable for primary school students are available. Activities and talks are informal, fun and interesting using a 'show and tell' approach to excite students about technology, engineering, maths and computer science. Playing with robots and learning how quicksand works are just two examples of fun ways to inspire young minds. Contact Kirby Gagliardi to learn more.

University Schools Liaison

The University offers a range of services both on its own campuses and in schools to ensure that students are equipped to make the right decisions about their futures. [more details]
